Muran Castle Muráň
The castle was built in the 13th century. It is first mentioned in 1271 under the name arx Mwran. It belonged to the Bebek family. In 1524, it came into the hands of Štefan Zápoľský. However, the Szécsy family was significant for the castle. The daughter of Juraj Szécsy, Mária, is known as the Murán Venus. In an attempt to save the castle, she was imprisoned. The penultimate owner of the castle was Štefan Koháry. During his presence, the castle burned down and has been deteriorating ever since.
