Above the villages of Dolné and Horné Orešany rises Slepý vrch, which is an important archaeological site. The oldest Celtic fortification in Slovakia emerged here in the 5th century BC. Until this discovery was made known, it was assumed that the Celts settled our territory much later. The Celts mined iron ore on Slepý vrch. During archaeological research, several blacksmith workshops, smelting facilities, and jewelry production sites were found here. The fortification was abandoned due to battles, as arrowheads, spears, swords, human bones, and evidence of fire damage were discovered. Unfortunately, this area has been looted by 'treasure hunters' who ransacked it using metal detectors. The traces of their activities can also be seen in the surrounding forest, where there are holes from amateur excavations and mounds of dirt. The remains of the ramparts of the fortification still exist, visible as terrain irregularities around the summit of the hill. From the top, there is a beautiful view of the surroundings, which was certainly one of the reasons for constructing the fortification.
