There are only three Holy Stairs in the world. The first original ones are those that Jesus Christ walked in Pilate’s palace in Jerusalem. You can see them in the building of the Holy Stairs in Rome, where they were transferred by Empress Helena in the 4th century. The second Holy Stairs are a copy in Jerusalem, and the third is located in Malacky. This copy of the Malacky Holy Stairs was built by Count Pavel Pálfy. You can admire them in the Chapel of the Holy Stairs within the Franciscan church and monastery complex. There are 27 beautiful stairs with precious relics of saints. Special services are held in the chapel, during which worshippers kneel and ascend the stairs while kissing them in reverence to the relics.
