In the forests near the village of Veľké Lovce, there are ruins of an old monastery called Máriacsalád or Mariánska Čeľad. Once, it was a monastery with a twin-towered church, maintained gardens, and baths, built by the Paulines around the beginning of the 16th century. The monks dedicated themselves to serving God and people and developed progress in the economy. The monastery also had a library with an extensive collection of valuable historical volumes. It served as a fortress during wars. The monks left the monastery at the end of the 18th century, and until 1989, it was used for secular purposes.
