Rocky Mountain Lake Vysoké Tatry
Skalnaté Pleso is located below Lomnický štít, on the edge of the Skalnatá Valley. It is a medium-sized glacial lake in the Tatras, near the middle station of the cable car connecting Tatranská Lomnica and Lomnický štít, as well as the observatory of the Astronomical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The Skalnaté Stream flows through Skalnaté Pleso, which dries up during dry periods, as does the lake itself, because the construction of the cable car disrupted the impermeable layer of the ground.
