In 1863, a small village church was built in Kupči on the local major by the well-known Slovak bishop Štefan Moyzes. The church was dedicated to St. Stephen, and it is said that Moyzes attended services here. The major was under church administration until 1948, after which it was nationalized and subsequently managed by a local cooperative. During this period, the church still functioned. After the fall of totality, both the major and the church were abandoned.
