Castle Sklabiňa Sklabinský Podzámok
The castle, referred to in 1309 as castrum Sclabana, dates from the 13th century and was built on the site of an old Slavic stronghold. It was the seat of the Turiec County. In 1436, it suffered a devastating fire but was subsequently repaired. After this event, the owner of Sklabiňa Castle became František Révay. The Révay family built a manor as part of the castle, which was inhabited until 1944. Hitler’s troops set the manor on fire. It is currently undergoing renovation.
